- Trained volunteers collect data monthly at 4 sites on Carpenter Creek, and at 4 sites in the estuary and salt marsh.
- A monthly bird survey is done every first Monday.
- Once a year, macroinvertebrate testing is done at 2 sites on the creek.
- A salmon spawning survey is done every Fall.
- Seining is conducted in the estuary twice a year for the purpose of a fish survey
The data gathered through monitoring provides a scientific basis for making management decisions.
Collected data can educate volunteers and the public about the importance of water resources. School students, other environmental organizations or agencies and local planners, such as Kitsap County, also use the data.
