WHY ARE WE MONITORING?
The Cutthroats of Carpenter Creek was formed in 1999 as a program of Stillwaters Environmental Education Center. The Cutthroats work to protect water quality and fish and wildlife habitat in the Carpenter Creek watershed. The goals of the stream monitoring program include:
• Develop a baseline characterization of chemical water quality to document water quality changes over time.
• Conduct biomonitoring to support assessment of stream health.
• Educate residents in the watershed regarding water quality to prevent pollution and encourage environmental stewardship.
